Town Council Meeting March 10, 2026

The monthly Town Council meeting was held on March 10, 2026.

At the March 10 meeting, Town Council honored local jewelry shop J&R Gold. Owner Chris Calo and Mike Abel were recognized for celebrating 42 years in business since opening the doors in 1984. Congratulations on this accomplishment!

Additionally, Town Council took these actions regarding the Special Presentations/Requests:

  • Approved a donation to Tammy Bishop-Sparks, Associate 4-H Extension Agent, for their 4-H Camp support request
  • Reviewed a support request from the 2026 THS Project Graduation committee and tabled the request until a member of the committee can attend a Town Council meeting
  • Approved a donation to Brain Injury Solutions, represented by Alexander Barge, Director of Development

  • Reviewed a partnership support request from Friends of Southwest Virginia and opted to review this request further during the budget planning sessions to determine if this annual partnership request should be completed as part of the proposed budget
  • Reviewed and approved a request from Foundation Moto for their annual Old Town Revival (OTR) event. The 2026 event will be held June 5th through June 7th at the Back of the Dragon and at the Tazewell County Fairgrounds. Town Council additionally reviewed a request from Foundation Moto for a donation in support of this event and declined this request.
  • Approved a request from Jess Beavers to accept his donation of trees for Lincolnshire Park and to allow Jess to work with the Public Works Department for planting of the trees.
  • Reviewed an ongoing issue with sewer lines affecting a property owner.
