Town Council Meeting April 14, 2026
The monthly Town Council meeting was held on April 14, 2026.
At the April 14th meeting, Town Council recognized Welcome Back Kollectables, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary of business. Located at 236 Tazewell Mall Circle, Welcome Back Kollectables offers a tremendous variety of memorabilia, ranging from comic books, to game consoles and accessories, records, to vintage collectible figures and toys. Owner Larry Hayes and Freddy Smith were on hand to accept this recognition and we celebrate this anniversary and accomplishment!

Town Council also recognized new local business Crowned in Beauty – Hair by Vanessa. Located at 2749 Fincastle Turnpike, owner Vanessa Pridgen recently opened and offers services for all hair types, including braids, silk presses, cuts, and more. Appointments with Vanessa can be booked by texting or calling her at (276)202-3892. Congratulations on the new business!

Additionally, Town Council took these actions regarding the Special Presentations/Requests:
- Approved a donation the 2026 Tazewell High School Project Graduation committee for $700
- Approved a donation for $3000 for the annual Juneteenth celebration to the Friends of Juneteenth committee. The 2026 event will be held on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21. Saturday’s event will take place on Main Street, where a program featuring guest speakers will be followed by a parade to Carline Avenue for more festivities. Sunday’s event will happen at the Nuckolls Hall at the Tazewell County Fairgrounds. More information will be provided as the Friends of Juneteenth completes their planning.
- Approved the Rt 16 Rally and Music Festival event, along with a $10,000 donation to be used this event. The Rt 16 Rally and Music Festival is a collaborative effort of the local businesses Wayfarer Appalachia, Uncharted Adventures, and Back of the Dragon. The event will happen on Main Street on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, and will feature live entertainment with a phenomenal musical lineup, along with the traditional stunt shows. The lineup is still in development, so stay tuned for more information on auto shows and vendor announcements.
- Approved a $200 donation to Fisher & Co. in support of their efforts to provide meals to area law enforcement officers during National Police week.
