Due to the growing COVID-19 situation the Town of Tazewell has scheduled an Emergency Special Called meeting of the Town Council. This meeting will be conducted using telephone dial-in communication which is also the most available means of communication for not only the Tazewell Town Council and staff but also the general public. This communication method also complies with Virginia Code (1950) Section 2.2-3708.2(A)(3), as amended. This emergency meeting is partly in response to Governor Northam’s declaration of a State of Public Health Emergency in Executive Order 51 which was put in place on March 12, 2020 by way of Virginia Code 44-146.16. This meeting will only be used to discuss topics revolving around the COVID-19 issue and necessary actions being recommended by the Town Manager and/or the Tazewell Town Council. This electronic phone meeting will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday March 25, 2020. All Town Councilmembers, staff and members of the public wishing to have access to the meeting will need to dial (978)990-5000 and when prompted enter the Access Code 810183#. Areas to be addressed are as follows.

Open meeting with pledge and prayer (Mayor Hoops)

A) Closing of the Municipal Building located at 211 Central Avenue, Tazewell, Virginia to the public due to COVID-19 effective Thursday, March 26, 2020. (Todd Day)
B) Waiving of reconnect fees for water disconnects and methods of payment of all areas necessary. (Todd Day)
C) Cancellation of the April Town Council Meeting (Todd Day)
D) Closing of Gymnasium, American Legion Building, Train Station, etc. for rentals or other uses that cannot comply with less than 10 people and social distancing of six feet apart. (Todd Day)
