The Tazewell County Emergency Management (TCEM) issued a special statement that the Delta Variant of the COVID-19 virus is present in Tazewell County. The Delta Variant is far more contagious than the COVID-19 virus and will spread more quickly. Vaccinated persons may carry the variant without being sick and may transmit the disease.
TCEM recommends additional precautions including:
Wearing masks indoors and at public gatherings, frequent hand washing, use of hand sanitizing and avoiding large crowds. Even vaccinated persons should wear a mask to avoid transmitting the disease to others. If you are ill, remain home and do not attend public gatherings.
