The Tazewell Train Station LOVEwork reflects the uniqueness of the Tazewell and North Tazewell community. The “L” highlights the distinctive fact that Tazewell was at one time the smallest town in America with an electric street car, a trolley that ran from the station to Main Street carrying visitors and commerce through town. The “O” replicates the Town Seal reminding us of our Bulldogs, our peak, our farming and coal heritage, and the importance of education and recreation in our community. The “V” notes our community’s role as the county seat of Tazewell County since the its formation in 1799 and the town’s founding in 1800. Finally, the “E” highlights Norfolk Southern Railroad’s Clinch Valley Line that runs right through Tazewell and the Tazewell Train Station’s importance to that route. The brick depot on which our LOVEworks is displayed is the only remaining brick station on the Clinch Valley Line and has been repurposed to serve the Tazewell community once again as a meeting place and visitors center.
Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the LOVEworks and share with loved ones on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/VirginiaisforLovers or on Twitter with the special hashtag #LOVEVA.
