Christmas Tree Lighting 2014

The Christmas tree lighting for the Town of Tazewell was held on Saturday, December 6, at the American Legion building.

2014 Veterans Day Parade

On November 9, 2014, Tazewell held its third annual Veteran’s Day parade. This year the parade had an extra treat during the ceremony thanks to Gordon Bowers, who did a fly-over in his 1955 T-28 Trojan trainer. Tazewell salutes our Veterans!

Emergency Responder Recognition Dinner

The Town of Tazewell and the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors held a dinner on February 4, 2014 at the Fuller Peery building, in honor of the emergency responders who responded to the New Year’s Eve fire on Main Street.

Tazewell County Board of Supervisor’s Chair, Charles Stacy thanked the responders for their tremendous efforts, as did Mayor Don Buchanan, Town Manager Todd Day, and Board of Supervisors and Emergency Services Committee Chair Mike Hymes.

The Board of Supervisers also recognized the responders during their meeting after the banquet, presenting them with plaques in honor of their services.

Back of the Dragon 2013

Back of the Dragon Day was held on Saturday, June 1st, 2013 in Tazewell. The day included a bike show organized by the Iron Titans, and performances by Clinton Collins and the Creek Boys, Tuesday’s Gone, and Parmalee. The Monster Energy MX Stunt Team wowed the audience with their gravity defying stunts.


 

 

Fire Station Dedication

On March 17, 2013, the Town of Tazewell Fire Station was dedicated to A.D. “Mac” Buchanan.
This dedication is in gratitude for his service to the Tazewell Fire Department from 1956-2006, and his continued contributions to the citizens of Tazewell.

After opening words from the Town Manager, Todd Day, and and remarks from Fire Chief Josh Roberts, 3rd District State Delegate Will Morefield, Tazewell Board of Supervisors member Mike Hymes, and 38th District State Senator Phillip Puckett, the Town Council members, along with Mac’s son Mayor Don Buchanan, presented Mac and his family with a plaque recognizing his service.
