Spring Clean Up Month
The Town of Tazewell sponsors “Spring Clean Up Month” each year. Clean up month will be held the month of May. During this time customers that have a garbage account with the Town can come into the office and pick up 5 free trash bags for clean up month. Also, during this month, customers are able to set out extra items for garbage collection on their regular scheduled garbage day (example: carpet, extra bags of garbage, etc.) and the items will be picked up free of charge. The usual charge for an extra pick up is $34.00. We are unable to pick up items such as tires, paint, hazardous material, etc.
The Town of Tazewell will be placing DMV Stops on accounts that still have a balance on the personal property taxes. Taxes were due on December 5th. If a DMV Stop is placed on an account, there will be an extra charge of $20.00. If there is a stop placed on an account that customer will be unable to renew tags, driver’s license, etc. at the DMV until their personal property taxes are paid at the town.
We have received phone calls from our customers asking about a letter they have received from Home Emergency Insurance Solutions or Wesco Insurance Company saying that they need to take out insurance on their water line. The Town of Tazewell has not sent out a letter like this nor have we given any of our customer’s information to anyone. If you are receiving a letter like this, please be aware it is a scam. If you are concerned about your water lines and water damage to your property, contact your home insurance company.
The Town has received a number of complaints about the advertisement papers that have been cast all over town primarily in driveways. There is a number located at the bottom of the paper which is provided to recipients if they wish to not receive the information. We request that the number be utilized if indeed the papers are not wanted at your place or establishment. The number is 276-645-2550.
