Shawn Hurd began his career as Accreditation/Grants Manager with the Tazewell Police Department in 2006.  He brings to the department 14 years of Administrative & Clerical experience, including 8 years of law enforcement.  Mr. Hurd is also the Safety Coordinator and Worker’s Compensation Clerk for the Town of Tazewell. He is an active member of TRIAD, a program that focuses on senior citizens. Currently Mr. Hurd is a student at Southwest Virginia Community College where he is working to obtain his Legal Assistant Certificate.  Mr. Hurd has received many awards throughout his work history such as Outstanding Customer Service.  He was also nominated Employee of the Year in 2005 at the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.
