CHIEF BRIAN HIEATT

Chief Hieatt
started his law enforcement career with the Tazewell Police Department in
1990. He later went to work for the Tazewell
County Sheriff's Office where he served as a DARE Instructor
with Tazewell County Public Schools. During
his career he has attended several schools and trainings including, Drug Interdiction,
Intoxilyzer Operation, Drug Recognition, DARE Instruction, Class
Action, and Crisis Management Training. He has also attended several
administrative trainings such as Media Relations, Grant Administration,
and Accreditation Assessment training.
He has been awarded the 1995-96 Governors Award for Substance Abuse Prevention, and was awarded Tazewell County's first Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award by Tazewell County's Victim/Witness Program. Chief Hieatt completed his Associate in Applied Science Degree from Southwest Virginia Community College, where he is currently employed as an Instructor, teaching for the Administration of Justice Program. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice at Bluefield College, and graduated with a Masters Degree from Liberty University.
