The Main Street Mile Community Walk/Run
Saturday, May 28, 2016 @ 9:00 a.m.

A very fast one-mile, downhill course which starts on Main Street in Tazewell, VA (front of the library) and finishes at Tazewell High School celebrating the Sesquicentennial ~ 150 years since the Town of Tazewell was incorporated.

There will be two sections of this walk/run. The first is the Mile Race, which is timed and is not free (see section below for pricing). Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a commemorative shirt. The second part is the FREE Open Mile/Run Walk. No pre-registration is needed for this part.

Mile Race: 9:00 a.m. — Timed running competition.
Pre-registration (May 19): $20.00; Regular/Race day registration: $25.00
Students: $12.00, Regular/Race day registration: $15.00
Shirts guaranteed to pre-registered runners only. All participants receive a special medal.
Awards: Top 3 Male/Female winners. All participants receive a commemorative Sesquicentennial race medal.

Open Mile Run/Walk: 9:30 a.m. — FREE community walking event – No Timing!
Shirts may be purchased in advance or race day as available for $12.00.

School Trophy – A special trophy will be awarded to the school with the most participants in the race and/or the free walk!

Parking: At THS, transportation provided to the start by the Tazewell County Transit.

Free water, fruit, and snacks will be provided at Tazewell High School after the race and walk.

REGISTRATION & PICK-UP:
Race Packets can be picked up on Main Street beginning at 7:30 a.m. on May 28, 2016.

There are two options for pre-registration. You can download a registration form here, and mail it along with your payment (check or money order) to the Town Hall at 201 Central Avenue  Tazewell, VA 24651 to be received by us no later than May 20, OR you can use the online pre-registration options below.

By pre-registering, you agree to this waiver:
WAIVER: I hereby waive, release, and discharge the Town of Tazewell, the event director the sponsors, the
support personnel (Town of Tazewell EMS, Town of Tazewell Fire Department, etc.), and each of their respective agents and employees, from any and all claims of death, personal injury (either physical or mental), or property damage which I may have, incur, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of my participation in the Main Street Mile. I further state that I am physically fit to participate in the Main Street Mile, acknowledge and assume all of the risks associated with my entry into this race, and further acknowledge that I may be subject to injury, including but not limited to fractures, lacerations and possibly death. I understand and further agree that photographers and video production may take place on the course during this event, and I hereby consent to being photographed and acknowledge that my likeness may be used for event promotion at any time in the future without compensation. This release is intended to discharge and hold harmless, in advance, the Town of Tazewell, event promoters, the race director and race affiliated support, the sponsors, the support personnel, and each of their respective agents and employees, from and against any and all liability arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in said event, even though liability may arise out of or from the negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities mentioned above. It is further understood and agreed that this Waiver & Release is signed freely and voluntarily, and is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
